10 things India needs freedom from

Written by Prasanjit Sinha

Garbage
We love messing around, literally. We throw our wastes anywhere we want and complain about the Civic bodies. Well we got 3 words for you – Reuse, Reduce and Recycle, or else…

Protest March
Let’s clarify it first – a dharna or protest is an efficient way for your voice to be heard. But when you see the number of protest marches for the most outrageous of reasons, don’t you feel exhausted?

Poverty
We all know about it and honestly don’t really care about it. Our politicians are even worse, when they start claiming you can have a full meal for Rs. 12. We as a nation are quite apathetic towards them and FYI by poverty; we don’t mean your empty wallet in weekend.

Dowry
Countless laws and way too much time has passed, but we have been epically failing in exterminating dowry. Still wondering what can be done? Just stop asking for it.

Unemployment
“Papa kehte hai bada naam karega…” and we are still trying dads. The unemployment still looms large and preferred job profile is even harder to get. But what’s the loss in trying, right?

Terrorism
Countless attack and thousands lives lost, terrorism always resurfaces again and again. Most of them are just brainwashed youths trying to change something without any idea how to actually fight for it.

Pollution
“We already know so much about it alright.” But how much do we really care? Rather than conserving with what we are left, we are blindly destroying our beautiful forests for money. And if you think, you personally have nothing to do with pollution, remember Diwali?

Child Labour
It’s always puzzling with all the manpower this country has, how can we still indulge in Child Labour? Many bills and laws have passed but still there are millions of kids working as labours. And no Jimmy, doing your homework isn’t Child Labour.

Gender Inequality
Gender inequality has been a raging issue in recent times and finally people are waking up to it. Right from female foeticide to harassment in workplaces, women in general have to go through a lot. But miscreants still do find their ways.

Corruption
We love corruption, don’t we? It’s a life saver while braking Traffic Laws while blaming the politicians for taking a bribe. Why don’t we just stop giving bribes and pay the fines instead. And even if someone still insists on it, just hand them a bag full of this..

After all this, we still believe in our country and the future it beholds. This Independence Day, let’s just get rid of all these problems and usher into an era of happiness and equality.

  • You could certainly see your enthusiasm within the paintings you write. The arena hopes for more passionate writers like you who aren’t afraid to mention how they believe. Always follow your heart. “Every man serves a useful purpose A miser, for example, makes a wonderful ancestor.” by Laurence J. Peter.
